The Berkshire Detectorist's

The story so far

Berkshire Detectorists was founded by Ray Laidlaw, Kelly Le'Dvon in June 2011.

We received a lot of support from the other members of Metal Detecting Forum uk who told us to 'go for it'.

We wanted to help other people that have a passion for detecting, who were also like us, no permission to search on, Kelly went permission hunting and spent a lot of hours cold calling on farms.

We have now secured 2000 acres of land to search on. Both Gilbert Crocker (RIP) and his Son Harvey,

have been very generous with our requests to search their land. We also have confirmed 'YES's to

another 8 farm lands.

We decided to create a group for like minded people to go out digging, enjoy the social aspect and to show off our finds to the county.

We have done lots of digs and many members have found items that have been recorded

with David Williams, FLO for east Berkshire and Surrey. Anni Byard covers West Berkshire and

Oxfordshire

The joining fee is £15.00 Pp Per Year, reduced to £10.00 upon renewal on the groups

anniversary June 15th.

Weekend digs are charged £10.00 per day, which is split 50/50 between the group and the farmer.

Funds raised by the group will be used to buy a detector for all to use, and to reward members for their excellent finds. Funds will also be made available to purchase Buffet's and drinks on organised gatherings.
